The Blank Page: Adding Colorful Purpose to Type 1 Diabetes is a book AND activity guide designed to help children understand Type 1 Diabetes, develop coping skills, and discover a hopeful perspective.

In this story, the book pages themselves take on life as our two main characters. We are introduced to "the Blank Page", a character who shares their emotions and experiences through colors, lines, and textures.

When a Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis leaves a messy mark on the Blank Page, it wonders if any beauty can come from it. With the guidance of a mentor, "the Teacher Page," the Blank page finds hope.

This book, along with the concluding activity guide which includes 10+ therapeutic activities to further coping, helps children learn about diabetes in a child-friendly manner, fostering a greater sense of empowerment and courage.

Wonderful Resource!

As a child life specialist, I cannot wait to use this resource! My team just ordered several copies of each Blank Page book and I know they are going to not only make our job easier, but also help children better understand their diagnosis. This series isn’t only educational but also interactive and therapeutic. Seems great for the preschool through school-age kiddos!

Helps children understand a complex diagnosis

I love the language that is broken down to help children understand this complex diagnosis - and how perfectly paired the language is with great visuals! The activities at the end are great to keep in mind for helping children process their life with this diagnosis!

A Resources I Was Always Missing

The blank page book for T1D is a wonderful tool that I felt was missing from my current resources when providing education as a CCLS on an inpatient Peds unit! The story line is unique and appropriate for a variety of ages, genders and cultures. The activity book in the back is a great bonus as well to assess a childs comprehension of the story and application of the story to their own diagnosis.

Valuable Resource!

I am so grateful to have an accessible resource to give to my patients. A diabetes diagnosis is a life changing event and I am glad to have something I can give to my patients to make this hard news a bit more manageable.

Child Life Specialist Approved

The Blank Page books are such a valuable resource for child life specialists, caregivers, teachers, and more. Providing children with an interactive and developmentally appropriate way to learn about a new diagnosis makes it less scary and easier to understand. I am confident that these books will help children gain control of their illness (while also having fun!)
